If you’re looking to experience some of art’s greatest practitioners in one of the few environments qualified to showcase such magnificence, look no further than The Frick. Established in 1935, The Frick Collection is housed inside one of New York’s last remaining Gilded Age mansions. Its works of art blend with the opulent architecture to create an effect that must be experienced to be believed.
Enlightenment and Beauty
One of The Frick’s current exhibitions, Enlightenment and Beauty: Sculptures by Houdon and Clodion, centers on the work of these two French sculptors, and their contributions to art in France during the Enlightenment.
The Frick has brought together for the first time a great variety of works from these two sculptors, allowing the viewer to see the versatility and range which they possessed.
Presented in the dazzling beams of natural light that fill The Frick’s Portico Gallery, make sure you see this exhibit before it leaves on April 5th, 2015.
While it is best known for its art, The Frick also plays host to a number of other events, concerts among them. Over the years, The Frick Collection’s Concert series has showcased both classical and innovative musicians of all types.
The schedule for the 2014-2015 concert season will be posted here shortly; make sure to check it out so you can get tickets for your favorites!
So whether you’re looking to see French sculpture at its finest, to take in a concert or performance, or even just to immerse yourself in art for its own sake, The Frick Collection is the perfect destination.
