This October get ready to run! No, not from zombies or werewolves (at least not initially). October 6th is the Jersey Shore Half Marathon and the Sandy Hook Lighthouse 5K.
The Jersey Shore Half Marathon is more than four decades old, and is one of oldest distance events in New Jersey. The marathon route weaves through Sandy Hook and ends towards Sea Bright, with water stops scattered throughout. The event starts at 9:00am.
The Sandy Hook Lighthouse 5k is a great option for those who aren’t in shape for a half marathon quite yet. Although it’s less intense than the half marathon, completing a 5k is an accomplishment in and of itself, and gets you one step closer to participating in a half marathon next year. The 5k begins at 9:05am.
Along with the feeling of accomplishment gained from completing the race, participants are also awarded prizes for placement and there is a great raffle at the end as well! Refreshments are available after the race, so be sure to stick around.
Running is a great way to stay in shape throughout the year. It’s the perfect way to keep that beach body all the way into next summer.

If you’re a New York runner looking for some Jersey Shore fun, then hop aboard a Seastreak ferry. We dock mere minutes away from Sandy Hook, and a ride on one of our ferries will make the trip that much less stressful. After the race you’ll have plenty of room to stretch out and relax your tired muscles in one of our plush seats, instead of sitting in traffic in a cramped car.
Sea you soon,
The Seastreak Family
