- What to Expect
At 1PM on May 19th, Powerboat Races will take place on the Shrewsbury River, directly in front of Seastreak’s Highlands Ferry Terminal. Celebrations will be taking place throughout town, but the Quarterdeck, the event space on the second floor of the Highlands Ferry Terminal, will be the BEST place to view the races. Access to the Quarterdeck on the day of the event will be granted to VIP’s only!
In addition to entry to the Quarterdeck, your VIP ticket includes passed appetizers, incredible views of the race, access to the cash bar, race livestreaming displays, and free entry to additional viewing space and live music at the Sandbox!
- The Quarterdeck
The Quarterdeck is the perfect setting for watching the race! The beautiful space has stunning views of the Shrewsbury River, Sandy Hook’s beaches, and the NYC skyline. Plus, the racecourse is positioned directly in front of the Quarterdeck’s large river-facing windows! In fact, the Quarterdeck will provide the best possible views of the most pivotal turn of the race! Don’t worry about the portions of the race that are tricky to see from the ferry terminal, the race is livestreamed and will display on the three large TV monitors in the room.
As you walk onto the premises, you may notice the slightest sway under your feet. This is because the Quarterdeck is located on a stationed barge! This floating room gives the phrase “waterfront” a whole new meaning.
- Food and Beverage
Enjoy passed appetizers from Jacques Catering! The tasty snacks will include charcuterie platters, vegetable platters, cheese and crackers, mozzarella, tomato, basil and salami skewers, bourbon chicken skewers, and mini croissant sandwiches.
Don’t forget to visit the cash bar! Enjoy a nice cold drink while watching the race.
- Migrate between the Quarterdeck and The Sandbox
When you purchase a VIP ticket to watch the race from the Quarterdeck, you are also granted free access to The Sandbox for the day! Show us your ticket when you arrive at the Highlands Ferry Terminal, and we’ll give you a wristband to identify you as a VIP. With the wristband, you are welcome to migrate freely between the two venues that are just steps apart. At the Sandbox, you’ll find even more viewing space and live music!
- Pre-Race Events
On Saturday, May 18th, from 11AM to 4PM, the “Pit” located at the Seastreak Overflow Lot, 348 Shore Drive (formerly Doris & Ed’s Restaurant), will be open to the public, where Race Fans can get autographs and photos with the drivers and view the boats. The festivities continue with a Boat Parade along Bay Avenue at 5PM sharp. The parade will start at Huddy Park, down Bay Avenue, turn at the and head back down Bay Avenue to their designated establishment or return to the “Pit”. The Pit will not be open to the public on Saturday night however you can meet the racers and view their boats at Proving Ground, Seafarer, Sandbox at Seastreak, One Willow and Off the Hook.
