“AAAAAHH!” has been more or less my though process lately in re: preparing for Thanksgiving dinner. Dessert has been especially problematic. Making 2-layered shelled truffles every year — especially when one forgets to write down one’s recipe because one apparently has a head thicker than a wall — takes a lot of time that we just don’t have.

So instead of our normal introduction this week, we’re going to go with our theme of getting to the point and give you all the information you need to take advantage of Grand Central Terminal’s Autumn Harvest Dessert Event on Wednesday, November 25th, from 10am to 7pm.

Take a deep breath, because here we go.

Financier Patisserie
This quaint little store creates and sells both traditional and signature French pastries. Think that’s not American enough for Turkey Day? Well I’ll have you know that the French played a key part in the American Revolution, without which we might well have lost. Also, they have a wonderful collection of savory dishes, plush coffee and espresso, that they serve on a daily basis; in case you need to refuel while you get your shopping done.

Jacques Torres Chocolate
Really, I should just give up on my truffles and go visit this legendary chocolatier’s shop. Jacques has everything from decadent hot chocolate, to rich chocolate chip cookies, to natural chocolate ice cream… Hold on, I need to go and eat some Chocolate Therapy before I can keep writing.

Junior’s Bakery
OK, I’m back. As is my waistline. Ah, well…

But anyway — junior! Though visitors and locals alike stop by this bakery for sweets of all kinds, Junior’s is best-known for its delicious cheesecake. According to many, it’s the best cheesecake you’ll find in the whole city — and that’s saying something!

Magnolia Bakery
Magnolia Bakery is primarily known for its cupcakes, which are in a class all their own as far as this delicious baked good goes. Looking to feed the entire clan for Thanksgiving? Not a problem! They have people who can help with larger events! Maybe call ahead for that, though.

Taste NY Grand Central
This newly-opened store is part of New York State’s exciting Taste NY initiative. Here you can get a variety of local goods, like cheeses, wines, sauces, maple syrups, and snacks. You can even get a sample of their wine of the week, which you may need if you’re running all over the place.

Zaro’s Bakery
Zaro’s has been a staple of the NY baking industry for over 75 years. They sell over 300 lines of fresh-baked goods, including muffins, cheesecakes, and birthday cakes. They even deliver all night and day to make sure their products are always fresh. It may age a day before you can get it to Thanksgiving Dinner, but it’ll have the best possible head start.

Alright! We made it through all of them! So now that you know, head on over, and take Seastreak to get there! Why? Really? Are you seriously considering trying to get through Manhattan traffic this Wednesday? Right. And we can give you the best and most relaxing ride there and back. See you Wednesday.

Sea you Soon!
