There’s never a bad time to spend a night at the ballet, especially now! The New York City Ballet is reprising the historically adored George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker beginning November 29th at the premiere cultural arts venue, Lincoln Center within the David Koch Theater. The Nutcracker is the age old tale of little girl Clara’s wooden toy coming to life and inviting her (and you!) into a magical world full of dancing toys and sugar plum fairies. It encompasses the company’s most complex technical scenery and spectacular special effects, one of which is a one ton Christmas tree that grows from 12 feet to 40 feet right before your very eyes!

Get to know the talented company dancers from the lowest rank in corps de ballet to the principal dancer in the Sarah Jessica Parker produced city.ballet web series. It makes you really appreciate the hard work and emotion that goes into making this world renowned company’s performances so breathtaking.

While their dancing is impressive, the David Koch Theater’s interior just might steal the show. From the outside, it’s a spectacle, but as soon as you walk inside, the marble floored promenade steals the show. It boasts forty foot gold leaf ceilings, spiral staircases, and balconies with awe inspiring views. Inside the theater, there’s five ring seating consisting of 2,586 plush red seats that spherically surround the stage with jewel faceted lights on each level. It’s a grand sight to behold, to say the least. You haven’t really gone to the ballet until you’ve seen the New York City Ballet because this level of dramatics is exclusive to Lincoln Center.

You can check out a calendar of their performances here.  Tickets start at $29 and are available at nycballet.com or by calling (212) 496-0600.
