It goes without saying that The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade warms our hearts every year. With iconic character floats, the coolest pop stars, and some good old entertainment from the likes of The Rockettes, there’s something for everyone.
This year the parade is bigger and better than ever, so why not see it in-person for yourself, or bring your loved ones? To this day, I remember watching the parade from the sidelines as a little tyke with one of my uncles, and it’s a memory I’ll never forget. Seeing their favorite cartoon characters in larger-than-life balloon form right before their very eyes will absolutely amaze your kids.
This year’s balloon line-up includes Hello Kitty, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the Wizard of Oz, Zhu Zhu Pets, The Smurfs, Lindt Chocolate and many more. The real-life performers this year are, among others, Ariana Grande, Joan Jett, and Kellie Pickler.
If you’re interested in watching the staging of the floats, check out the show from 3pm to 10pm November 27th, the evening before Thanksgiving, at the special balloon inflation areas surrounding the Museum of Natural History beginning at 79th Street and Columbus Avenue.
The actual parade kicks off at 9:00 am from 77th St. and Central Park West, and early risers campout starting at 6:00 am on the west side of Central Park West from 59th to 75th Streets. The parade then veers south onto 6th Ave. with a great view from 59th to 38th Streets.
You can definitely make the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade if you catch the Thanksgiving Day 7:00 am Seastreak ferry from Conner’s Highland’s into Manhattan.
Whatever you do Thanksgiving Day, make sure you spend it with friends and family.
Sea you soon,
The Seastreak Family
