Sometimes you need a sense of humor to make it through the holidays with your family (read: the in-laws!). Luckily, the New York comedy scene is alive and well, so give yourself a break, take a trip into the city, and prepare to have a hysterically good time.
In addition to doing comedy shows, this nationally recognized organization is also an accredited improv and sketch comedy school. Their shows are funny, affordable – and sometimes even free! Did you know Amy Poehler was one of their first members? She still does Sunday shows called ASSSSCAT 3000 with other big-time Hollywood comics.

Since 1996, Gotham has been a premier venue for top comedic talent. 2005 brought a new space and 10,000 square feet of elegance. The 20’s are an obvious inspiration for the decor, which resembles more of a large-scale theater than a club. Comedy heavyweights like Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Lewis Black, Chris Rock, Dane Cook, Artie Lange, Colin Quinn, Greg Giraldo, and Jim Gaffigan are just a few who have graced Gotham’s stage to receptive audiences. January is a great month to laugh your tuchus off with multiple New Talent Showcases featuring professionals and up-and-comers alike.
