Maybe you’ve decided to forgo trapeze training but still want to see what all the buzz is about – well the Skirball Center at NYU has just the ticket!
In New York for a limited time, Cirque Eloize brings dancing, music and acrobatic talents to the stage in a riveting production depicting humans trying to escape a post modern, over-industrialized city. This Montreal based troupe is performing two shows a day for the next week.
“If you like a circus that balances “Holy Cow!” physical feats with Shakespearean poetics, step right up to “Cirkopolis.” Joe Dziemianowicz, NY Daily News
“There are many highlights: the mesmerizing Angelica Bongiovonni twirling provocatively on the Cyr wheel, a host of hunks tossing the seductive Dominique Bouchard through the air and Carr’s bewitching pas de deux with a dress hanging from a coatrack. But Cirkopolis is, above all, a collaborative piece. Many acts employ the entire ensemble of 12, all of whom are multitalented. Nowhere is this more apparent than the amazing juggling routine, in which every performer helps throw pins around as they seamlessly execute Dave St-Pierre’s meticulous choreography, often atop moving office furniture. Your jaw may drop, but none of the pins do.” Raven Snook, Timeout New York
