The constellation of stars coming to Broadway continues to grow! The Great White Way keeps right on attracting the best actors and actresses around, either to entertain us with new shows or breathe life into old ones. This week, the incredible Brian Dennehy steps onto the stage with his fellow Tony Award winner Nathan Lane for a poignant production of Eugene O’Neill’s “The Iceman Cometh”. You’d better hurry, though. This strictly limited run plays for just over a month at the Harvey Lichtenstein Theater (651 Fulton Street), until March 15!
Life in the Dead End
Harry Hope’s saloon is the watering hole of choice for an eclectic collection of washed-up men looking for oblivion in the bottom of a glass. They fritter away the remains of their lives in the bar, chatting about empty plans and bygone days, while they wait for someone to break the tedium. That someone is Theodore Hickman, a traveling salesman who enlivens the patrons of the saloon on his trips through town.
“The Iceman Cometh” tells the story of what happens when Theodore Hickman, or Hickey as he’s known, arrives in town a changed man. It’s a hefty story, taking four acts and nearly five hours to tell. This amazing production is well worth the time spent, however. It took Chicago’s theater scene by storm in 2012, and the original cast of that run reunites now on Broadway.
The Stars Cometh, Too
Nathan Lane is a well-known name on Broadway. He never fails to captivate the crowd with his charisma and acting chops. Brian Dennehy has a distinguished acting career that spans both movies, television, and stage.
