This year marks the 88th Annual Feast of San Gennaro, which will be held in Little Italy for eleven days from September 11th through September 21st. Presented by the Figli di San Gennaro, the festival is held in honor of the Patron Saint of Naples. The main event is on the official Saint Day, September 19th, and is kicked off with a celebratory Mass at the Most Precious Blood Church, followed by a lively procession during which a statue of San Gennaro is paraded through the streets of Little Italy.
The feast is colorful, bright, and reflective of the rich history of this group. There are parades, free music, and, of course, food. There is even a cannoli eating contest, which is reason enough to come! Stroll along Mulberry from Canal Street north to Houston to get your fix of sausage and peppers, fried calamari, rice balls, calzones, zeppoles, fried Oreos, cannolis, torrone, gelato, piña coladas, margaritas and plenty of games and fun things to see and do.
