In Manhattan, you never have to eat the same style of food twice in a row, and you can sample cuisine from all over the world. Sometimes, though, nothing but a perfectly grilled steak will do. If you’re craving a delicious dinner fit for even the most discriminating carnivore, check out Keens Steakhouse at 72 W. 36th Street!

Keens 1

Keens Chophouse opened in 1885. It served a boisterous array of actors, playwrights, and others involved in the theater scene, including actors in full stage make-up who ducked in for a drink between a play’s acts! Keens Chophouse developed a broad reputation for its stellar mutton chops.

Today, Keens Steakhouse remains as a reminder of that bygone era. An impressive collection of pipes decorates the walls and ceiling, mementos of patrons such as Albert Einstein, Babe Ruth, and “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Dark wood and old-style art give the restaurant a classical, timeless feel.

Their porterhouse, which serves two or three people, will delight beef lovers of all stripes.
