Anyone trying to live a healthier, more sustainable life should mark their calendars for this year’s Green Festival at Pier 94 in New York City. Taking place on Saturday, April 26th, and Sunday, April 27th for the 13th year in a row, over 250 vendors will sell everything from food to clothes to home items to conscious consumers.
No matter what your interest, or fitness level is, there is something for absolutely everyone. Discover new brands, and take advantage of the opportunity to shop for certain rarities on the spot. If you don’t get a chance to go to Chinatown a lot (or at all), make sure you stop by Mah Wah Vegetarian Market’s booth for meat and fish imitations that are indistinguishable from the real thing. For those craving pizza minus the calories, check out the much loved Daiya cheese’s booth as well.
Just in time for vacation season, exotic vacation locales will be advertising their offerings. A Costa Rican sustainable village community will be there to answer questions about the homes you can buy for a getaway, and Veg Voyages will be discussing their all inclusive Asian adventures that cater to vegetarians.
If you’re looking to make your home greener, lighting, compost, solar greenhouses, and eco-friendly office supply companies will be there as well, to work their green magic on you.
It wouldn’t be a festival without the 30 plus bath and body brands pedaling their wares, boasting everything from sustainable to biodegradable skin care, wipes, and makeup. Those with sensitive skin will have a field day shopping for gentle, skin-friendly formulas that aren’t easily found in stores.
Although money should be brought, discovering new brands you can always shop for later is the most priceless part of the whole festival. And with an early bird ticket cost of only $5 for one day (available until March 15th), your monetary investment is very little.
When you throw in the myriad of activities for adults and kids alike, from yoga to demos to live music, it ends up paying for itself!
