Sushi brings the world together and unites it in the love of fancy fish. All right, that might be an exaggeration (just maybe), but sushi does have a tremendous international appeal. Restaurants that serve excellent sushi enjoy undeniable celebrity attention, and with some big-name restaurants prominent in the culinary spotlight. Until recently, New Yorkers have missed out on one of the brightest stars of sushi, but our wait is over! International sushi eatery Zuma has finally opened its New York outpost! You can see what all the buzz is about at 261 Madison Avenue.

More than California Rolls

Zuma has been one of the most elite sushi restaurants since 2002. It has locations across the globe, from Turkey to Thailand to the United Kingdom. Chef Rainer Becker has been developing the New York location of his high-class Japanese eatery for three years, and last month, it welcomed its first guests. Just another restaurant debut, right? Not when Zuma welcomed people such as Kim Kardashian and Gwyneth Paltrow.

What attracts famous folks to Zuma? Gorgeous food prepared by some of the most skilled chefs in their field. Zuma boasts both a sushi bar and a robata grill in its bi-level homage to the izakaya, bringing a variety of delicious Japanese foods to the table.

Head and Fins Above the Rest

You won’t come away hungry from a lunch or supper at Zuma. There’s an appetizing selection of soups, salads, tempura, grilled foods, and of course, sushi and sashimi. Katzutoshi Endo, a protégé of sushi master Jiro Ono, watches over the sushi bar, ensuring every bite will be well worth the wait.
