If you, like millions of others, have seen and loved Disney’s Frozen, then there’s a pretty good chance Idina Menzel is a familiar name. The voice behind Elsa and “Let it Go”, Menzel has been working her vocal chords for years. She was an original cast member of Rent, won a Tony for her performance of Elphaba in Wicked, and has been in several movies, including Enchanted and Rent.
Known for her powerhouse vocals, Menzel doesn’t disappoint in the brand new Broadway musical If/Then, which tells the story of a forty year old woman who moves to NYC after a divorce looking for a fresh start. She has the choice of two different paths she can travel based on her choices and fate’s inquisition; both are played out quite ingeniously.
In this musical, written by Next to Normal writers, you’ll see Menzel reunite with her Rent costar, Anthony Rapp.
If you find yourself with time before the show, try your hand at winning their lottery drawing for the opportunity to purchase two tickets at $25 a piece for that evening’s performance. The drawing takes place daily two hours before show time.
The show is a beautiful, contemporary musical that will likely resonate with most audience members. It officially opened March 30th and a cast album is expected to come out in June. We’ll definitely be booking our tickets for this Broadway legend’s return before it’s sold out!
