You heard right, the late and great sounds of Louis Armstrong has been immortalized by David Ostwald’s Louis Armstrong Eternity Band. You can be a part of the soulful sound of the origins of jazz at the Birdland Jazz Club at 315 West 44th Street New York!
Since 1949 – Soul Doesn’t Sleep!
For 14 years, David Ostwald has had the great legends reverberating off the walls and through the halls of the Birdland Jazz Club. The Louis Armstrong Eternity Band brings the music of Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton, and so many more to life.
Birdland Comes Home to Roost
Charlie Parker (Bird or formerly Yard bird), opened Birdland in the heart of the jazz scene in 1949. Originally, Birdland was located on Broadway! The club was kept alive largely because of its patrons over the years, which included amazing legends such as Count Basie, who later recorded “Lullaby of Birdland” live there at the club. John Coltrane’s Quartet was a regular during the 60’s and recorded “Live at Birdland”. DJ Symphony Sid Torin even opened and broadcasted live from the club to listeners up and down the coast!
With an original line-up like Miles Davis, Bud Powell, Lester Young, and Thelonious Monk, it’s little wonder that Birdland has become a permanent fixture in New York City!
The Best to The Rest
The birth of jazz was a way for people to create original sounds from cultural influences. Jazz is something you cannot simply listen to, but rather you experience and feel into the depths of your stomach and down to your toes.
