Any music festival lover will know that we are in the thick of concert season, a time of year when the nice weather allows for days spent under the sun watching and listening to amazing live performances. If you’re looking for some free fun this summer, go to City Parks Foundation’s Summerstage.

Summerstage was founded in 1986 as a continued effort to enrich the lives of New Yorkers and those in the surrounding areas. While initially a series focused on music, it has grown to encompass dance, comedy, poetry and much more. Through the years it has hosted some of the most influential artists of our time, and continues to invite a rich mix of performers year after year.

While originally held in Central Park, Summerstage performances are now scattered throughout the five boroughs with unique offerings in each area.  Tickets to many of the concerts offered are free, while others are available for purchase at a reasonable price.

Some of the artists performing this year are She & Him, the classic folk band Indigo Girls, rapper Fat Joe and funnyman Nick Kroll. To find out more about Summerstage and the artists set to perform visit cityparksfoundation.org/summerstage.
