Love, Boredom, and Longing in the Country

Natalya Isanev, played by Taylor Schilling has far too much time on her hands. She has far too little to occupy her on her rich, older husband’s country estate. To divert herself, she encourages her most devoted friend, Mikhail Rakitin (Peter Dinklage) to fall further in love with her.

Then a handsome young tutor arrives, there to school Natalya’s young son for the summer. Vera, Natalya’s teenaged foster daughter, takes an interest in the new arrival, but so does Natalya herself. These longings stir up the placid country life at the household, and change everything for the better, worse, and humorous.

A Song of Orange and Black
