Doughnut Plant
379 Grand St
New York, NY 10002
It is a scientifically proven fact that there is nothing better than doughnuts (with the possible exception of certain gaseous forms of chocolate, but let’s save those for another entry). And if you, too, love your doughnuts, then there is no better place for you to visit then Doughnut Plant.
While its official start date is in 1994, its pedigree and family history go all the way back to 1910 when the grandfather of Mark (Doughnut Plant’s founder) started working at a bakery in St. Paul, Minnesota. Though he was only 16 at the time, his baking legacy would shape the family for generations to come.
Doughnut Plant makes its doughnuts by hand fresh each day — not just the dough, but also the jams and fillings. Not only this, but they also offer a wide variety of flavors, everything from standard jelly and chocolate to lavendar flower, mole, coconut lime, even Matcha green tea! Even the shapes themselves are fun and unique, with some being the traditional round but others square, and some even triangular in form!
And if you’re looking for healthy… Well, if you’re looking for healthy, you probably shouldn’t be eating too many doughnuts in the first place. But, if you’re looking for healthier, look no further! Doughnut plant never uses eggs, preservatives, or any other artificial ingredients. Their doughnuts also contain no trans fats, so that’s one enemy you won’t have to watch out for.
Ultimately, a sweet tooth is not something that’s meant to be conquered, or even tamed. But it is a powerful force, so if you want to placate and please it, head on over to Doughnut Plant and get your sweet on! Consider giving your sweet tooth something of a warm up by getting some snacks aboard the Seastreak ferry. Both your teeth and your stomach will be glad you did.
Sea you soon!
