You can find a little bit of everything at South Street Seaport. Catch a movie, buy a brand new bag, or fill your belly with a variety of different treats. Could be, though, you’re just looking for a comfortable place to settle in for some good food in a relaxed atmosphere. In that case, you just need to add a little Fresh Salt. Not the spice, the restaurant! It’s at 146 Beekman Street, not even half a mile from Pier 11, and it’s the perfect refuge from the bright lights and big city.

Fresh Salt 1

Salted Comfort Food

Since 2004, this vintage-flavored establishment has been serving up the kind of food that brings people back again and again. Their cuisine features dishes that taste like home and comfort while still adding a creative flair all their own. Try their delicious quiche of the day, or tuck into a meatloaf sandwich with some tomato and horseradish mayo. From 10:30 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon, you can enjoy brunch with a mimosa to wash it down.

“Fresh Salt” is a pretty odd name for a bar and café tucked into an odd little building between Front and South. Once upon a time, back in 1885, the place was a smokehouse that had fish on offer. Their sign read, “Fresh, Salt, and Smoked Fish”. The signage, and the name, stuck.

At Seastreak, the only salt you’ll find is in the brackish waters of the harbor. No salty language, just salt-of-the-earth (or sea) good service. We’re the ferry company you can always count on to make your trip smooth and easy.

Sea you soon!
