Exposing yourself to some culture won’t hurt you in the least. We’re not talking about eating yogurt, here. We’re talking about broadening your horizons. Changing your perspective. Looking at some fabulous art and letting the spirit move you. And did we mention it’s free? On Tuesday, June 9, the biggest block party for anyone who appreciates art is happening from 6 PM to 9 PM. Get yourself to 5th Avenue, between 82nd Street and 105th Street for the 37th Annual Museum Mile Festival!
Nine Museums, One Destination, No Cover Charge
The Museum Mile Festival started out as a way to bring support to the arts during tough financial times in the 1970s. They wanted to bring in new museum visitors and in doing so, build new appreciation for this aspect of the city’s culture. 37 festivals later, it’s safe to say they succeeded.
These days, people come from all over the country to enjoy the evening of wandering through museums and appreciating the diverse array of arts on display. Art tells the story of artists, cultures, and the city around us. The Museum Mile Festival presents a unique cross-section of New York’s people.
A Feast for the Eyes and Ears
Each museum contains its own world, and you get to explore the diversity contained in each! From the Africa Center to the Jewish Museum, learn more about the cultures who have shaped the city’s people. Appreciate the amazing displays at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, then take on the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There’s more than remnants of the past available, too. See the colorful exhibit dedicated to the Hip Hop Revolution at the Museum of the City of New York!
Seastreak’s ferries are works of art themselves! They’re modern masterpieces of luxury and comfort, ready to take you to Manhattan, Atlantic Highlands, Long Island, and more.
Sea you soon!
