Mothers see us through the best and worst times of our lives. They put bandages on our skinned knees, they listened to us rant about the person who’d broken our hearts, and they gave us advice when we asked for it (and when we didn’t, but needed it anyway). Even if it wasn’t your biological mother, odds are good there’s been a woman in your life who helped make you a better person. Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10, and it’s the perfect day to celebrate the special woman in your life!
Mother’s Day Weekend Garden Party – New York Botanical Garden – All Weekend
Why confine your celebrations to one day? Spend a weekend with the whole family, and show the mother in your life how much you appreciate her, at the New York Botanical Garden (2900 Southern Boulevard). There’s something for everyone at this year’s festivities. Play fun outdoor games, try your hand at watercolor painting, and let the kids craft Mother’s Day cards. Then listen to the live music while you picnic with the help of a variety of food trucks!
Mother’s Day at the Zoo – Central Park Zoo – Sunday, May 10, 10:00-11:30 AM
Moms, spend some quality time with your kid at the Central Park Zoo’s Mother’s Day Celebration (at 64th Street and 5th Avenue). Meet some zoo animal mothers and their babies, make treats for the hard-working animal moms, and go on a scavenger hunt! It’s a great time for kids and parents alike.
Japan Day at Central Park – Bandshell – 9:30 AM – 4 PM
Looking for something to do this weekend that’s not focused on moms? Check out the Japan Day festival at Central Park’s Bandshell (main entrance is at 69th and 5th). Hear live music, like Taiko drumming and dance music, eat delicious food, and learn more about Japanese culture!
Seastreak appreciates all the mothers who ride with us! Thank you for raising such fabulous passengers, captains, and crew for our ferries.
Sea you soon!
