It’s that time of the year! Put on your white shirt, fish out your lederhosen, and grab a stein, because it’s Oktoberfest! Ever since 1810, this Bavarian Volksfest (beer festival and traveling funfair) has captured the hearts, minds, and parched throats of millions. New York is celebrating right along with the rest of the world from this past Saturday, the 19th, up through Sunday October 5th, so why not come and join in the fun?

High Spirits at the Highlands
First, check out our very own first annual Seastreak Oktoberfest event in Highlands, NJ! We have everything you need for a fun Oktoberfest experience — beer tents, stein-holding contests, live entertainment, and — of course — some of the best German beers, wines, and foods available for your sampling pleasure. Remember — you get $10 off your tickets by dressing in the German fashion, so come prepared!

Oystoberfest
Oktoberfest 2

Got plans for Saturday the 26th? Well, you do now! Oystoberfest, located at Ellington’s in the Park (enter on Riverside Dr at W 104th St.), offers up a tasting of all-you-can-eat oysters of more than 12 varieties plus all the beer you can drink (noticing a pattern here?) from Blue Point Brewing Company. And you can also shuck oysters for a $20 suggested donation; that’s just pretty cool.

Oktoberfest 3
Even the Mets are getting in on the festivities! On Friday October 2nd, you and other fans can gather in the bullpen for beer, franks, and pretzels. It’s a great way to celebrate your love of the favorite American pastime, while also showing your appreciation for (the beer of) other cultures. Clearly, a very cosmopolitan event.

Oktoberfest is long and full of fun events — make sure not to miss a one! And, let’s face it, it’s not really the type of event you want to have to drive home from. Safety first. But if you ride Seastreak, you don’t need to worry about driving. We’ll get you across the water safe and sound to whatever mode of public transportation you prefer. You can even order some more beer from us on-board — for us, it’s Oktoberfest all year ‘round.

Sea you Soon!
