Not much says “summer” more clearly than a concert in the great outdoors. Great music is thumping and blaring, sun’s shining, people in fun summer wear are dancing to the music… We’d spend every weekend like that if we could. Summer music festivals only happen once a year, and it’s a no-brainer to get in on them when they come around! You’ve got the chance this weekend at the Governor’s Ball Music Festival at Randall’s Island Park! Snatch up your tickets while they’re still available, because they’re selling out fast.

Going to Have a Ball

The Governor’s Ball Music Festival is a huge outdoor musical extravaganza, filled to the brim with great acts ready to rock your socks off. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, you can listen to modern favorites while enjoying the gorgeous venue. There’s food, too, so you really can’t go wrong.

They’ve put together a set list with something to please everyone. Florence + The Machine will be playing on Friday, along with My Morning Jacket, Black Pistol Fire, Future, and many more. Saturday’s got Deadmau5, the infamous Bjork, Ryan Adams, and others. Sunday’s looking really great, with Lana Del Rey, the Black Keys, and the inimitable “Weird Al” Yankovic.

More than Music

For the times when you’ve had enough tunes, there’s way more to do than just listen to music. Grab a friend and play one of the many lawn games available, like bocce ball or a round of life-sized Connect Four. Have a look at the many art installations, or make your own art at the photo booths! Then grab a bite from one of the restaurants sending food, like Pizzanova, Southernmost Falafel, and Jack’s Sliders and Sushi.
