The Sandy Hook Light is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse in the United States! There is more than just a touch of history to be found at Sandy Hook. From architecture dating back to the first days of U.S. independence, homes from the Civil War era and even landmarks and artillery from WWII – there is so much see and experience.

Promenade with Your Pooch!
After your ferry ride you can relax on one of the many beaches, enjoy eclectic cuisine from food trucks that have been invited in, and tour the history with the park rangers. Many shorebirds come here to nest and if you are a bird watcher, you can download a list of birds to find at Sandy Hook. Some are even endangered and for generations have made Sandy Hook their nesting grounds.

Sandy Hook is pet-friendly, and you can have your pooch take a dip in the surf (on the bay beaches). You can even find just the right spot and on the right beach enjoy the beauty of the New York City skyline.
