New York’s a great place to live when summer rolls around. While the city is indubitably alive all the year around, it truly swings into motion when the weather warms up. All we need is half an excuse to get outside and create exciting things to do! You won’t find a much better example of this than the variety of plays, concerts, and shows that take place on our outdoor stages. This coming week, New York gets started on its tour of open-air venues with the first concerts of SummerStage! See Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Mastodon at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park!

SummerStage 1

Monday, May 18 at 6 PM – See the Tedeschi Trucks Band for Free!

A free concert featuring the Tedeschi Trucks Band is a real steal. You don’t have to spend a dime for the opportunity to hear what’s been called the vanguard of modern roots music. Fronting this 11-piece powerhouse is Susan Tedeschi, who had a successful solo career before lending her talented pipes to this endeavor; and Derek Trucks, rated as the 16th top guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine. They’re joined by Spirit Family Reunion, who are local to New York and put on a fabulous show.

SummerStage 2

Tuesday, May 19 at 5 PM – See Mastodon, Clutch, and Graveyard! $35

Why wait for the weekend to rock out, when a Tuesday will do? Support the SummerStage performances throughout the year by buying tickets to this high-energy show. Mastodon has been bringing audiences powerful riffs and haunting soundscapes for fifteen years. They’re joined by Clutch, and by Graveyard, promising a loud, off-the-hinges show. Get your tickets while they last!
